Minister for Peace Report Parliamentary launch

by Shaughan Dolan ~ June 5th, 2018. Filed under: News.

Conscience: Taxes for Peace Not War will be hosting the parliamentary launch of its flagship report “Minister for Peace – Security in the 21st Century” on 5th July. We will be joined by the Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament Fabian Hamilton MP.

The appointment of a Shadow Minister for Peace is a landmark achievement of the anti-war movement. But the work has only just begun on crafting a platform that can help shift our foreign policy away from aggressive military interventions and towards peaceful means of resolving conflicts.

Conscience has appointed Tim Street, an academic from Warwick University, to write a report on the how a Minister for Peace might work in government, what its priorities should be and how it can transform British foreign policy.

We will be launching this report with leading lights from the anti-war movement, MPs and NGOs. More importantly, we need you to be involved in developing a platform for peace. Come join us in Parliament on July 5th for a discussion on the Minister for Peace and what it means for the future of the peace movement.

Speakers include:

  • Chris Williamson MP
  • Paul Mason, Journalist and Broadcaster
