About the Event
On Sunday 12th November ceremonies will be held across the country to remember and reflect, including The National Alternative Remembrance Ceremony, held in front of the memorial stone for conscientious objectors in Tavistock Square, London.
As an organisation, Conscience will be present at that event, joining other peace activists to remember all victims of war and commit to campaigning for a more peaceful world.
Don't forget to wear your white poppy!
The white poppy has long been a symbol to remembrance and peace, being worn for ninety years. In the wake of the First World War, in 1933, individuals from the Co-operative Women's Guild were the first to produce the white poppy. Many of these women had lost loved ones during the war and were determined to preserve the central message of Remembrance Day: "never again."
