Job Description
Role: Office Assistant
Location: Remotely
Salary: Volunteer/reasonable expenses travel/lunch
Hours: This position is voluntary so the applicant may set their own hours but it is recommended that to get the most out of this opportunity applicants commit to one day per week for a period of approximately six months.
About the role:
Conscience is looking for someone who would like to learn about a variety of tasks undertaken by an NGO. This intern should be willing to attend peacebuilding events, network with people in the peace sector and the public, as well as monitor peacebuilding and government policy in the press. Approximately one third of the volunteer's time will be devoted to research, admin and other activities. A significant part of the role will be focusing on promoting and building interest in our events series that we hold every few months.
Person specification:

We are primarily looking for a candidate who is outgoing and would like to gain experience campaigning in the peace sector.

Experience of promotional tools would be an advantage as would some experience sourcing and collaborating with VIPs.

Applicants with some experience of organising events are particularly welcome to apply.

Good communication skills as well as good writing skills and an excellent grasp of the English language are a must.

Specific knowledge of or a willingness to find out about military expenditure, non-military security and conflict prevention would be an asset.

Previous experience of political campaign work will be an advantage.

The staff team also really appreciates ad hoc help in person (in London) at certain times of the year e.g. when we are sending out our Appeal Letters and newsletters. Add your name to our informal volunteer list and help the campaign for half a day a few times a year!
